Armenian cross-stones (khachkars) of the 13th century have been discovered in the Kolatak village in the Martakert region of Nagorno-Karabakh/ Artsakh. Khachkars are characteristic of Medieval Christian Armenian art.
The cross stones were found buried in the ground. Some of them depict typical Armenian symbols – crosses, pomegranates, signs of eternity and the sun. While the Azerbaijani authorities continue to systematically erase and destroy the #Armenian religious and historic, cultural heritage from the occupied territories of Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh, these discoveries are yet another proof of their engrained Armenian identity.
