Armenian historical and cultural monuments are endangered
After the November 9 announcement, Armenian historical and cultural monuments in the territories occupied by Azerbaijan became endangered.
The Azerbaijani Armed Forces continue their typical “war” against the Armenian historical, cultural and religious heritage, destroying and disrespecting religious sites and monuments.Various videos praising war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in those areas are published on the Internet, which are factual evidence of Azerbaijan’s anti-Armenian racist policy.During the active hostilities, the Azerbaijani armed forces twice deliberately bombed the Ghazanchetsots Church of the Holy Savior in Shushi from a drone.
Later damaged St. Hovhannes Mkrtich Church in Shushi (Kanach Zham), destroying its domes. And today, the President of Azerbaijan is cynically talking about the restoration of the Ghazanchetsots Church, spreading untrue rumors about 67 mosques. UNESCO should take effective steps to ensure the protection of Armenian historical and cultural monuments and to ensure that Azerbaijan fulfills its commitments to preserve the cultural heritage of other peoples.Any action taken to destroy the culture of a people or ethnic group is called a national-cultural genocide.
